Turns and Underwaters

Turns- There are three different types of turns you can do depending on the stroke. Flip turns for freestyle, open turns for butterfly and breaststroke, and backstroke turns for backstroke.

Underwaters- There are different types of underwater as well. There are normal underwaters that you do streamline dolphin kick for free, back, and fly, and there are breaststroke pullouts.

Starts

The start of your swim is one of the most important parts. If you have a slow start, your entire race can be in danger. One of the most important things you need to work on to have a good start is your reaction time. If you don’t jump off of the block as soon as the buzzer goes off, you should be in the pool ready to swim. You also need to try and jump off the block with the most force you can.

Breaststroke!

Welcome back everyone, and get ready for our third stroke… Breaststroke! This is one of my favorite strokes to race, and one big tip I could tell you is to glide for three seconds before starting your next stroke. Breaststroke is a hard stroke to learn, and even harder to do correctly, but don’t give up! Be patient with it and give yourself time to work on it before giving up. Breaststroke Video

Freestyle!

Hey everyone, welcome back and get ready for our fourth and final stroke… Freestyle! Freestyle is a stroke that if done correctly can be very fast. It as well as breaststroke takes time, patience, and endurance. In this stroke two main tips are to do “one goggle breathing”-which will be explained in the video- and rotation. Freestyle Video

hi

Butterfly!

Hi everyone, today’s post is going to about butterfly. I know that this is a tough stroke to learn but don’t give up! Butterfly requires quite a bit of upper body strength, so dry-land will help you quite a bit with this stroke. Work hard and don’t give up, and you will begin to see an even bigger improvement in your fly. Butterfly Video
